Bio

Chatwin has taught at Owasso High School for over 16 years. She leads three science courses along with three after-school clubs. In 2023, Chatwin won the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Foundation National Teacher of the Year Award. She has previously won numerous awards for her efforts in the classroom and her abilities to help students think outside the box, while providing hands-on experiences that provide greater understanding of anthropogenic effects and geologic wonders. Chatwin has led her students to raise money to build a water well in a small village in Africa and engage in remediation efforts by theQuapaw Nation at the Oklahoma Paddlefish Research Center, to name a few of her classroom projects.
