Bio

Matt Simmons is an Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota Crookston. His research interests focus on ecological restoration and invasive species management. He is passionate about teaching and enjoys teaching several courses related to the ecology, management and restoration of wetlands, prairies, and drastically disturbed lands.

Project Description

Undergraduate students enrolled in Prairie and Range Ecology and Management will evaluate the ecological outcomes of pyric herbivory as a prairie management tool by analyzing field data and remote sensing outputs, and interpreting how these outcomes influence habitat structure, plant production, and bird habitat suitability.
