Miss Tinker is a Secondary Science Teacher at Berthoud High School in Berthoud, Colorado. She has 5 years of teaching experience in the public school systems in both Alabama (2) and Colorado (3). She currently serves as a Co-Department Head at her school and is an assistant coach for the volleyball and track teams. She currently teaches AP Environmental Science, Biology, and Genetics. Previous subjects taught include Geophysics, Physics, Anatomy and Physiology, and 8th grade Physical Science.
Project Description
Designed for high school AP Environmental Science students over three to four class periods, this project explores land management tools to curb red cedar encroachment. Working in small teams, students analyze the dynamics of native and invasive species to craft an integrated restoration plan that uses prescribed fire and multi-species grazing. Teams present their plans through creative media and are evaluated through an AP-style FRQ, an exit ticket, and a post-event reflection worksheet.
