Stephanie grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Northern Virginia before attending the University of Kentucky where she earned her undergrad degree and worked with UK’s Forage Extension group. After graduation, she joined Oklahoma State University Extension as an Agriculture/4-H Educator serving Carter County, Oklahoma. She brings equine, livestock, and plant/soil knowledge to the producers and citizens of Carter County to assist with anything from livestock and pasture management to home orchards and gardening.
Project Description
This project adds a two-part extension component to the OSU Extension Forage Foundations program for local cattle producers. The main event is a half-day field demonstration offering hands-on experience with prescribed fire, pyric herbivory, woody encroachment control, and multi-species grazing, scheduled flexibly around burn weather. The project also provides a lesson plan and curriculum template so extension educators can replicate the field demo in other counties. Partnering with local PBAs, the Chickasaw Nation, and conservation groups helps build community ties and promote red cedar control, with students completing a post-event reflection worksheet.
